Arena Flood Lighting
Arena/ Commercial Floodlights are used to light up large indoor/ outdoor playing fields where there are low-light conditions for visibility, safety and security. In many professional sports it is a requirement to have floodlights to allow games and activities to be played at night. While safety and security may dictate flood light use in many instances, other areas for flood lighting include arenas, stadiums, race tracks, parks, tennis courts or anywhere you need large area lighting for playing, safety, or simply for security.
Metal Halide Lights use an arc instead of a filament. Metal halide lamps generate light by passing an electrical current from one electrode to another through a metal vapor to form an arc between the electrodes.
Metal Halide gives more lumens per watt. The lamp will last an average of 6000 hours, or 2 years - six times longer than a standard incandescent lamp - and up to 9000 hours, or 3 years, if used with electronic control gear.

HPS Lamps when compared with Low Pressure Sodium, are smaller and contain additional elements such as mercury. They produce a dark pink glow when first struck, and a pinkish orange light when warmed. Some bulbs also briefly produce a pure to bluish white light in between. This leads them to be used in areas where good color rendering is important, or desired.
